The questions we are asked most often before a booking. If yours is not here, contact us or message us on WhatsApp at +351 968 701 497.
Booking and pickup
Where do you pick us up?
At your hotel, apartment or the cruise terminal, anywhere in Lisbon, Sintra or Cascais within a 30 km radius. Pickup outside that area is possible for an extra €20. You will receive the exact pickup time and the guide’s contact after booking.
Are your tours private?
Yes. Unless a tour is explicitly labelled “shared”, it is private: only your group travels in the vehicle and the itinerary is yours to adjust on the day.
How far in advance should I book?
In spring and summer, at least a week; Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira tickets sell out on popular dates. Outside high season a few days is usually enough. Last-minute requests are welcome; just ask.
Do you pick up from the cruise port?
Yes, from the Lisbon cruise terminals. Tell us your ship, arrival and all-aboard times and we plan the day so you are back with margin to spare.
Tickets and what is included
Are monument tickets included?
Only when the tour page says so (for example the Sintra 3 Monuments tour, or tours with “ticket included” in the description). Otherwise tickets are paid on the day at the monument, and your guide will tell you the current prices before you decide which to visit.
Does the guide come inside the monuments?
Our guides are driver-guides: they take you door to door, explain the history and context on the way and at each stop, and suggest what to see inside. Guided visits inside monuments are not included unless the tour description says so.
Is lunch included?
Not on most day tours, so you can choose where to eat; your guide will recommend local places at different price points. Tours with “lunch included” in the name are the exception.
What is included in the price?
The vehicle, fuel, tolls and parking, your driver-guide for the whole day, hotel pickup and drop-off, and bottled water. Wine tastings and tickets are included where the tour page says so.
Families, groups and accessibility
Are the tours suitable for children?
Yes. Most tours have reduced prices for children (7–12) and infants (0–6), and a private tour means you set the pace. Child seats are available on request; tell us the children’s ages when booking.
What is the maximum group size?
Up to 7 people in one vehicle. For larger groups we run two vehicles or arrange a minibus; contact us for a quote.
Can you accommodate limited mobility?
Often, yes. Sintra’s monuments involve steep paths and steps, but Cabo da Roca, Cascais, the Arrábida viewpoints and most of Évora and Fátima are manageable. Tell us in advance and we will adapt the itinerary.
Payment and cancellation
How do I pay?
Online at the time of booking, by credit or debit card, through our secure FareHarbor booking system. You receive an immediate confirmation by email.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel 11 or more days before the tour for a full refund, 10 days before for a 50% refund. Cancellations 2 days or less before departure are non-refundable. Full details on our cancellation policy page.
What if the weather is bad?
Tours run rain or shine; Sintra in the mist has its own charm. If conditions make part of a tour unsafe (for example the coast in a storm) we adapt the itinerary with you on the day.
On the day
What languages do you guide in?
English, Portuguese, Spanish and French. Tell us your preferred language when you book so we assign the right guide.
What should I bring?
Comfortable shoes, a layer for the coast (it is windier and cooler than Lisbon), sunscreen, and swimwear on the Arrábida and beach tours. Cash is useful in small cafés and at some monument ticket offices.
Can I change the itinerary?
Yes. Tell your guide what matters most to you and they will adjust the order and timing. If you want something completely different, our custom tour is built from scratch around your interests.
