Lisbon on Wheels is a small, family-run tour company based in Lisbon. We run private tours only: your group, your vehicle, your pace. Every tour is led by one of the three of us, in a modern air-conditioned car or van for up to 7 guests, with pickup at your hotel, apartment or the cruise terminal. We guide in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
Meet the guides
José Ribeiro — founder and lead guide
José founded Lisbon on Wheels in 2014 and has guided most of the tours our guests write about. Sintra, the Templar sites of Tomar and the wine regions around Lisbon are his specialities; guests regularly mention his knowledge of Portuguese history and his habit of finding the quiet viewpoint the coaches miss. He guides in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
Carina Ferreirinha — guide
Carina guides our Sintra, Cascais and Arrábida tours, and is the guide most often requested by families: patient with children, quick to adjust a plan when the weather turns, and happy to trade a palace for a beach if that is what the day calls for.
Nuno Ribeiro — guide
Nuno guides across all our destinations and looks after bookings and the day-to-day running of the company. If you email or message us before your trip, he is the person who answers, and often the one who picks you up.
How we work
We keep the company deliberately small so that the person who answers your email is the person who picks you up. Tours are private by default, itineraries can be adjusted on the day, and monument tickets are pre-booked whenever the tour includes them, so you skip the queue at Pena Palace or Quinta da Regaleira. Pickup is included anywhere in Lisbon, Sintra or Cascais within 30 km.
Licensed and insured
Lisbon on Wheels is a registered Portuguese tourism activities operator, licence RNAAT 229/2020. All vehicles are licensed for passenger transport and fully insured.
